* The largest bug, 58' long, is a blue termite on the roof of Big Blue Bug Solutions in Providence, RI. The bug's name is Nibbles Woodaway and it was created in 1980.
* Newport claims the oldest operating Tavern: The White Horse Tavern. It was established in 1673 and today is a fine dining, upscale beverages establishment.
* The state's highest point is Jerimoth Hill, it stands 812 ft above sea level.
* The Quonset Hut was invented at naval reserve base Quonset Point.
* Rhode Island hosted the first CIRCUS in America in 1774. Rhode Islander Gilbert Stuart painted the portrait of George Washington found on the US one-dollar bill.
* Rhode Island is the only state that still celebrates Victory Day (the end of WWII) as an official state holiday.
