We decided to time our trip so we could also attend a family reunion in North Dakota after visiting Montana. And we thought as long as were heading over there, we’d make a trip out of it and finally see Mount Rushmore. As we started looking at other things to see in the area, we added Wyoming and Nebraska to our trip. And then, just for good measure, we decided to take the long way to Montana for the first time – via Oregon and Washington.

Screen Shot 2014-02-28 at 12.37.42 PMSo we packed up the car (complete with 11 catstudio state pillows!) and headed out. We saw lots of family and friends, enjoyed plenty of ice cream and trail mix; but most of all, we really felt like we were on a classic American road trip. My husband, a beer aficionado, found microbreweries for us to visit in 6 of the 11 different states. We stopped at “Welcome” signs, landmarks, scenic points, etc. to take photos with the pillows – which I posted to Facebook along the way (check them all out here). When we weren’t talking, scheming, and dreaming, we listened to a wide variety of music and even a book on tape. We saw breathtaking landscapes – mountains, prairie, rivers, badlands, ridges, ravines, farmland, forests, lakes, and plains. You just gotta love the diversity and beauty of America!

The highlight of the trip was the night show at Mount Rushmore. We both felt SO very proud to be Americans by the end of the program. The lowlight – getting a bit lost on long 2-lane highways in Nebraska in search of Chimney Rock. Let’s just say we were a little too reliant on Google Maps and had no cell service…

All in all, it was a great trip. We were happy to scratch off some new places on our USA scratch map, and were already planning our next big adventure by the time we got home. Our goal: hit all 50 states… and perhaps do them all with catstudio pillows in tow.

Sierra's Road Trip

Atlanta and Dallas - January 2014WE’RE BACK after a month of traveling, exploring, and working with our wonderful retailers from across the country.

ATLANTA: We began our month at the The Atlanta International Gift & Home Furnishings Market from January 7th – 14th. Many of our customers got to experience our new permanent showroom (located in building 1, 9th floor, suite 9-c-9) for the first time and loved it! And it’s already beginning to feel like home to us.

Some of our highlights included our infinite glass display on the first floor and catching up with friends and neighbors at Sugarboo Designs and Design Legacy (check out the butterfly couch, pictured above!) We took a walk on the culinary wild side at Empire State South (how does an appetizer of “Jars” sound: deviled ham, trout mousse, pickles, pimento cheese & bacon marmalade, and boiled peanut hummus?) And we ate like the locals at Across The Street off Highland Avenue. All-in-all, Atlanta was good to us, and we can’t wait to go back!

DALLAS: The Dallas Total Home & Gift Market came up quickly on the 15th and ran through the 19th. No time to rest when you’re selling the BEST hand-embroidered pillows, dish towels, drinking glasses, and aprons! (Admittedly, we’re a little biased here.)

Wendy’s favorite part of the Dallas show? “Getting to meet & hug all my customers! So wonderful to have a face to go with the voice!” And we couldn’t agree more – we love getting to see all of YOU!

great friends at market!Till next time!
